HOW TO GET HEALTHY, COST-EFFECTIVE VENTILATION

LivingBetter’s technology provides cheap ventilation and a natural indoor climate in any building

A VENTILATION WINDOW PROVIDES COST-EFFECTIVE VENTILATION

– AND CREATES A HEALTHY INDOOR CLIMATE

No ventilation system can ever compete with fresh air in the great outdoors. This means that a constant flow of fresh air is best for you and your home. Do you or your tenants air their apartments several times a day?

Modern structures are insulated well in order to save energy. The indoor climate was omitted from the equation and the results are poor air quality and, in the worst-case scenario, the formation of mould with potentially dire consequences for human health.

LivingBetter kills two birds with one stone. It ensures not only exceptionally low energy consumption, but also a healthy indoor climate.

THE LIVINGBETTER SOLUTION COMBINES INTELLIGENT VENTILATION WINDOWS WITH MECHANICAL AIR EXTRACTION – E.G. A HEAT PUMP – THAT ALSO RECOVERS HEAT

Our ventilation windows let a constant flow of fresh air into the structure. Other windows allow air to enter directly through a vent in the window frame. These windows cause draughts and thermal bridging.

The valves in the ventilation window are at the top and bottom of the panel. Fresh air enters at the bottom and is conditioned by heat loss from the inside and solar energy from the outside. This is not a new concept. The so-called Russian window was invented centuries ago.

The ventilation window gives you much lower heating bills because the fresh air does not have to be heated much on the inside.

On the coldest winter days, the windows automatically ensure that a slower flow of air heats as it passes up through the window panel. In the summer, the windows help automatically to maintain a comfortable room temperature.

This is why we call the ventilation window an intelligent window. Read more about ventilation windows here.

HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE VENTILATION AND HEAT RECOVERY

LivingBetter windows ensure that fresh air enters the building. At some point, the air has to leave the building again.

A centrally located exhaust air heat pump draws the air in. Then the heat pump recovers heat energy and uses it to heat your floors and domestic hot water.

If it is to drive the ventilation in your house, we install the heat pump in a technical cupboard. When the heat pump is installed in a larger property, we install it in the attic. When a heat pump is located inside the building, the occupants benefit from much more recovered energy. Air that is processed outdoors has to cool down.

The heat pump is the only part of the LivingBetter solution that requires electricity. There is no need for extra ductwork for the ventilation system. The air finds its way from the windows through your home to the heat pump via ordinary exhaust air outlets in the bathroom and kitchen.

How does the LivingBetter concept create a healthier indoor climate?

LivingBetter is a complete indoor climate and energy concept

LivingBetter offers energy consumption low enough to meet BR 18 energy requirements without an alternative energy source, e.g. solar panels or geothermal heating.

An exhaust air heat pump enhances the effect of ventilation windows. The heat pump creates negative pressure from its central location in the home or property.

And you will never so much as notice negative pressure. Even so, it is sufficient to draw stale air to the heat pump so that the warm humid air can be put to good use instead of becoming a breeding ground for problems such as mildew and mould.

The heat pump is responsive to demand. It adjusts underfloor heating depending on the outside temperature.

When the heat pump is not producing energy, it triggers an extractor fan that provides background ventilation of your home.
